Our Story

The Stamford Lions Club was organized during the winter of 1957, under the sponsorship of the Niagara Falls Lions Club, and received our charter on May 6, 1957, with Lion Ben Prior serving as Charter President. In 1974, meetings were moved to the newly renovated Stamford Lions Memorial Hall on Portage Road, which had been purchased from the Stamford Women's Institute in 1972. The club has been a pillar of the Niagara Falls community for over six decades, supporting causes related to vision, diabetes, hunger relief, and youth development.

Who Are Lions?

When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We serve. In 205 countries, in hospitals and senior centers, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and in eyeglass recycling centers, Lions are at work — helping, leading, planning, and supporting. Our 46,000 clubs and 1.4 million members make us the world's largest service club organization.
